HOW MUCH DO YOU VALUE YOUR DRIVING LICENCE?

Many motoring offences carry points which are to be recorded on your driving record upon conviction. Generally speaking if you reach 12 points within a three year period then the Court will have to disqualify you from driving for a minimum period of six months.

If you cannot do your job without your driving licence and consider that you are at risk of disqualification, contact us now for expert advice.

SPEEDING OFFENCES

If you are convicted of speeding, the Court must endorse your licence with a minimum of three penalty points up to a maximum of six penalty points. However, for example, if you were driving more than 30mph above the speed limit, the Court would also have to look as to whether or not you should be disqualified from driving for a period of 14 - 56 days. The Court sentencing guidelines vary depending on the speed limit of the road upon which you were caught speeding. The Court has the power to fine you. If your licence is at risk, contact us now and we will ensure that all the appropriate mitigating factors are bought to the Courts attention.

IS A BAN AUTOMATIC IF I REACH 12 POINTS ON MY LICENCE?

Not necessarily. If you need your licence to carry out your job, you may be able to persuade the Court that you would suffer from exceptional financial hardship if you were disqualified from driving. Should you require advice or Court representation, contact us now.

DRINK DRIVING

The Courts view drink driving very seriously and if convicted, the penalties can be severe. The Court has got the power to impose an immediate prison sentence of up to six months upon conviction. Legal Aid may well be available for representation at Court for drink driving.

If you have had a previous drink drive conviction within ten years, then the Court must disqualify you for a period of 36 months.

Here at Sutcliffe Reed we have considerable expertise in dealing with all motoring matters and we may be able to save your driving licence by ensuring that all appropriate mitigating factors are brought to the Court's attention. Obviously, we cannot make promises but you may find that instructing us will save you more than your driving licence.
